Then & Now

One of the more interesting aspects of this project (at least to me) is that I have the chance to go back and “redo” some of my earlier work.

Not to suggest that I have any regrets about how I handled things back then… It’s just interesting to think, “What would I have done differently had I taken these pictures today?”

Here’s an example taken in February of 2008, in Long Beach, CA:

Now, I won’t pretend that it’s fine art, but I do see what I was going for here. I love the silhouettes, and I kind of understand the blasted out effect used for the sky.

That being said, here’s what I came up with today:

I will not say that one is better than the other, since art is purely subjective, but I will say I do like my efforts today more than 18 year-old me’s attempt.

Now my next thought; what will 37 year-old me do with this photo a decade from now?
